Programs offered under Liberal Studies are Bachelor of Arts (Journalism & Mass Communication), Bachelor of Science (BSc+), Master of Science (Chemistry) and Master of Social Work (MSW). Under Teacher Education programs offered are: Bachelor of Education (BEd.), Master of Education (MEd.), Post graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and Ph D (Education). Well-known for its programs in teacher education which are NCTE approved, the School has a well-earned reputation in the field of teacher education due to its high quality curriculum, practice teaching and faculty research. The university, which has its roots in top quality schools, is well connected with the local education community and ensures that the knowledge and skills essential for a modern day teacher are adequately developed through its courses and successfully applied to the needs of schools and society. BSc+

The BSc+ Program places special emphasis on development of analytical skills, communication skills, entrepreneurship. The use of ICT tools is unique to the program. Choice-based electives from different Programs of the University offer opportunity to explore diverse interests in an interdisciplinary manner and enlarge the educational space. Social connect and know-your-community is achieved through a hands-on project KHOJ, wherein students from many majors across the university work collaboratively and apply disciplinary education in an inter-disciplinary manner to solve complex social problems and bring about social innovation. A capstone project grounded in science and its application offers opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the sciences

BSc - MSc

BA

The cutting edge curriculum offers core and interpretative courses that will enable the prospective students to learn on conceptual skills and have a robust hands-on work in the Studio/seminar as well as engaging sessions in interdisciplinary settings. The program offers many practicum avenues including Internship in the media industry and a Capstone project in the sixth semester.


The structure of the program offers students a work environment similar to a high-pressure deadline orientation of the profession and will feature in-house media production as well as multiple opportunities for practicum without compromise on the critical thinking as a core component of Journalism.

BEd

The two-year BEd Program is NCTE-approved and prepares students for multiple contexts and roles in contemporary schools, succeed as a school teacher. The program provides a broad-based, practical education in school teaching through disciplinary courses and electives, and offers an opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge in two school subjects so they can become Master Teachers. Interdisciplinary education is fundamental to BEd education and it is balanced with disciplinary, and general education so core issues of Education can be better developed, presented and contextualized. Entrepreneurship education and knowledge of visual design add to the innovative aspects of the NUV curriculum and helps students to succeed in teaching practice rigorous teacher-student interaction provides continuous dialog and mentoring. Hands-on-education through simulation exercises prepares students for real-life experiences in actual classrooms. A strong practice connect is established through a close and continuous interaction with the local school community

MSc(Chem)

Chemistry owing to its strength in analysis as well as synthesis of molecules plays an important role in innovation and development of sustainable production processes, novel high-tech materials, products in pharmaceutical industry and high-end polymers. Chemical Industry accounts for over half the value of the Indian companies and hence chemistry is vital to the economy. These companies need graduates with knowledge, confidence and expertise who can adapt to the challenges and make the most of the opportunities that technological advances provide. Our courses are designed with these needs in mind. Through lectures, hands on laboratory work, presentations and independent dissertation thesis, our post graduates will receive training aided with research methodologies and shall also focus on important issues related to Organic and Analytical chemistry in a sustainable manner. Our post graduates will leave us with the knowledge and skills that will enable them to play leading roles in industry, business or in the world of academic research

MSc(LS)

The Masters Course lays emphasis on the overall development of laboratory skills of a research student coupled with an expansion of his/her knowledge base through specialized inputs for the course. The course work comprises of lectures and practicals along with skill building through technical and research oriented programs. The course is reviewed regularly in consultation with our Academic Advisory Board, which comprises of experts from academia, research institutions and industry from all over India. Thus, the course is tailor made to fulfill the requirements needed to compete with the current developments in scientific research. Along with the permanent faculties, the regular lectures are also conducted by visiting faculties who are experts in their respective fields. Apart from the course work, the Faculty also conducts Guest lectures by eminent academicians and scientists and paper presentations (Journal Club) to ensure learner centric environment. In addition, methods like quiz, discussions, tutorials, Industry visits etc. are also envisaged by the faculty to benefit the students. There is state-of-art infrastructure and advanced laboratories with modern instrumentation needed for pursuing quality research and training

MSW

MSW is a two years full time degree program. Students gain a background in Social theory. In this course students are exposed to a wide range of social work topics, including social justice, social welfare policy, mental health practice, human behavior and research methodology. After successful completion of the MSW course students will be able to work in governmental, non-governmental and international organizations, Education, corporate or other fields.

MEd

The two-year MEd Program is NCTE-approved and prepares students to become Independent Researcher, Teacher Educators, Educational Managers and Educational Technologists. Through a choice-based credit system, students select courses in disciplinary, interdisciplinary and areas of specialization to customize their educational needs and develop professional expertise in their area of interest. Interdisciplinary education, with courses in philosophy, sociology, psychology in education and research methodology, and specialization courses combine practical, research and theoretical approaches to develop understanding of the teaching profession.

ECCE

The ECCE Program provides a broad general orientation to the field of Early Childhood Care and Education. Rooted in strong teaching focus, the Program offers opportunity to pursue independent study and explore personal interests in a variety of educational platforms in early childhood care and education. Entrepreneurship education is central to this and it prepares students to set up, organize, establish and manage institutions of Early Childhood Care and Education.
